project updates

Hello there…here is an update on the results of the exhibition.

25 postcards were sold for $5 each which allowed for the creation of a printing & shipping fund. Also, a donation of $5 was received, bringing the total up to $130.

I produced a simple mail art catalogue for participants and was able to ship this along with a postcard swap to the first 41 participants who included a legible return address.  Also, 4 local supporters received something in the mail too.  A total of 45 envelopes shipped.

I hope you will send mail art to some of the participants listed in the catalogue! Isn’t that what being part of the Eternal Network is all about? Making connections worldwide.

The next and last phase of the project is the production of a Blurb book. There is no funding left for this but I think I will still do it and will keep you posted here as well as sending an email alert to those who included their email address.

Thank you all for participating! It has been a great show and a great year for great mail!! ~ Laura

A heartfelt thank you to all of you who participated in this project! It is true when they say “without you, this would not have been possible.”

I think all entries are in, but if there are some that are still travelling the skies, they will be posted here when I receive them.

I received a total of 109 entries from 26 countries! That’s awesome!

Next, I’ll be working on a simple B&W print catalogue and trying very hard to compile all entries into a colour book. The catalogue is the priority but I hope I’ll be able to get the book done for the exhibition. The book will be available for purchase at cost, online. The link will be posted when available.

I’ll also be starting to consider display options for exhibiting all these postcards. I have a pretty good idea how I want to do this, but you are welcome to send suggestions with pics from other exhibitions.

The exhibition is November 6 – 29, 2013 at Britannia Gallery in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

The opening reception is Wednesday, November 6, 6:30 pm – 8:30pm. Everyone is welcome. Light appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks served.

To raise funds to enable me to do a swap and mail catalogues to participants, all postcards will be available for purchase here in Vancouver for $5 each (cash or credit card). No online sales available. Remaining postcards will be swapped and should there the a surplus of funds, they will be donated to the gallery, which is a community gallery.

If you have questions, feel free to post them here.

In the next few days I’ll be still posting mail art postcards postdated no later than September 16. Although the deadline was the 15th, some of you couldn’t take advantage of that post date because it fell on a Sunday. So as long as you dropped your postcard off at the post office on the 16th, once it arrives here in Vancouver, I will post it and it will be exhibited.

Looking forward to last minute scramblers!

Thinking of sending yours in? Don’t wait!

Hi! So are you working on your mail art piece yet? Can’t wait to see your work! I’ll be posting a bit on this blog while you’re all working on your mail art. Please do share the link to the project.

If you’re stuck for ideas, here’s a little brainstorm from google search with the project phrase “this is where I go.”

This is what came up today within the first 7 or 8 page results:

  • this is where I go insane
  • this is where I go in my dreams
  • this is where I go to save the rest of the community from me
  • this where I like to go
  • this is where I go to pay the bills
  • this is where I go to do whip-its and think about what if the ninja turtles had to go to college
  • this is where I go Supernova
  • this is where I go to get movies amen!!!
  • work is where I go when I should be at home
  • this is where I go when I dream
  • this is where I go when you really annoy me
  • this is where I go to escape
  • this is where I go to write all the stuff I can’t write on my other, more spiritual blog

So, where do you go?
